The Oasis
6550 Comanche Trail
Phone: (512) 266-2442
Austin's best sunset views are found on the deck of this restaurant/bar by Lake Travis. Telescopes on the deck allow you to get close-ups of the scenery or the hotties on the lake. The deck itself is a sight to be seen, as its tiers descend down the 450 ft. cliff into the lake. With live music on weekends, this is the place to be for perfect vistas and dinner at sunset. It is a little overpriced for the food because you are paying for the view.

Salt Lick
18300 FM 1826
Phone: (512) 894-3117Z
In neighboring Driftwood you'll find some of the area's finest all-you-can-eat BBQ. The BYOB restaurant's open-pit serves up tender and tasty brisket and lean pork ribs. The atmosphere is one of Salt Lick's greatest attributes, with stone and cedar interior to create a perfect BBQ-smoky, cozy atmosphere.

Things to do outside the area:

San Marcos- Known for its Factory Outlet Malls. You can spend a whole day or weekend shopping. (How scary). You can also visit Aquarena Springs, (a clear spring-fed lake) from a glass bottom boat tour at Wonder World (a cave formed by an earthquake).

New Braunfels – Go to Camp Warneke to ride white water rapids down the Guadalupe River. (Rent canoes, tubes, or just swim). But it might be a little cold for that in April…but you never know. There is also Schlitterbahn waterpark about 46 miles south of Austin. Call (830) 625-2351.

San Antonio – Travel 1.5 hours south of Austin. It is worth it to visit the Alamo, Rivercenter (huge mall) and the famous Riverwalk. (Especially cool at night when it is all lit up.) Your can also go to Sea World (210) 523-3611 or visit Fiesta Texas (aka Six Flags) theme park (210) 697-5050.
